A new love drama featuring Anne Hathaway has an intriguing idea that you might find appealing: Between Hathaway, a single mother, and Nicholas Galitzine’s character, the lead singer of a well-known boy band, sparks flare. Though the film The Idea of You is still more than a week away from being seen by the general public, its trailer apparently set a record for streaming movies.

The Idea of You on Prime Video is based on Robinne Lee’s book of the same name. In the film, while chaperoning her daughter’s Coachella vacation, Hathaway’s forty-year-old Solène meets Galitzine’s twenty-four-year-old Hayes Campbell. Although their courtship is chaotic, according to an official synopsis, “Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for,” due to Hayes’ famous status.

March saw the international debut of the film, which was directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, The Eyes of Tammy Faye). Should the movie’s lead character beggaring your attention with “Harry Styles” remarks, be advised that although Lee drew inspiration for her book from the former member of One Direction, it is not about him.

Lee stated to Vogue in 2020 that “this was never supposed to be a book about Harry Styles.” “It was supposed to be a story about a woman approaching 40 and reclaiming her sexuality and rediscovering herself, just at the point that society traditionally writes women off as desirable and viable and whole.”

Here’s more information regarding Prime Video’s release dates for The Idea of You. With only a few reviews, it has a Metacritic score of 77 and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%.
